Partial Eclipse of the Sun

Chris Baker

On the morning of Saturday 29th March 2025 you'll be able to observe a partial eclipse of the Sun, by the Moon.

It is rare for UK observers get a chance to see an eclipse of the Sun from home soil. Although it is not a total eclipse - it is still rather spectacular!

It will last from 10:07am to 12:01 with the maximum eclipse at 11:03.

Remember DO NOT observe the Sun directly. - use an appropriate filter to view.

OR... did you know that most smartphones have the right built-in UV filters. So you can point your iPhone or Android device at the sun to view the eclipse. BUT DO NOT look through your phone directly. Use 'selfie mode' or a selfie stick to view the eclipse safely.

Here's what to expect and when:

Enjoy and don't forget that even if it is cloudy you may still catch a glimpse of the bite from the Sun! Good luck!
